<div style="text-align: center;">
Wow it has been a while! I absolutely love blogging but since I became a mom, my heart was more focused on blogging about family. My priorities shifted (as they should). In 2019, we welcomed twins (a boy and a girl) which has really made it impossible to do any school work at home. I still love teaching and coming up with creative lesson ideas but my passion has really become helping teacher moms balance their work/home life...streamlining their work so they can focus on their families. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As I'm looking back at my last posts, I see that I have been headed here for a while. In order to streamline and simplify life in the classroom, we are going to need to declutter! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In the past, when I was looking for an activity for a certain skill, I have been so overwhelmed with all of my materials that I end up just finding something new on Pinterest or TPT. All that did was add another thing to my room that would soon be lost in a pile or cabinet. Now, I only have my favorites and I actually use what I have! It makes planning a lot easier (and faster). </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Are you ready to declutter your classroom and get started on a more balanced life in 2020? Join me! I'll walk you through exactly what I did so you can also stop bringing home piles of work and can actually enjoy your family!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A Facebook group will be coming soon! Stay tuned! </div>

I am obsessed with creating the perfect planning template for myself. Is anyone else this way? I think the problem is that my job is not consistent. I see some kids in their classroom for ELA or Math, I see some in my own room, some I see daily and others I see every other day and some students I don't ever work directly with but they are still in my schedule/caseload! Of course I can't find a plan template that works for all of that! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So I did the only logical thing and created 5 different templates. I'm going to share them all with you, my lovely readers! (*Disclaimer, these templates were made with a resource room/small group teacher in mind). While <strike>obsessively</strike> working on creating a plan template(s) for myself, I did a lot of reflecting. It is so important to pick a plan template that works for YOU!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So what kind of template is right for you?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Do you like to plan day by day or do you like to plan by group?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I personally like to plan a large chunk of time for my group all at once. That is how I keep my lessons cohesive. The fastest way for me to write plans is to have each group in it's own section in my planbook. If you like to plan out each day, having all your groups together on one page would work for you. This is my favorite template and I'll tell you why in my next post!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2SzcgQvzspfimUBCIUSmxffh6-fBtuSjx-NEZBIO3fxM1UWwXEpMSMKLLA9ZFQgY91qzxpPx5YcMRCOOBOzItYE7gPyfU4aXKAWo_CbMevNqqgpSAQlvV6yqL67D2FYHteWtikOd_jgw/s1600/template+1+1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2SzcgQvzspfimUBCIUSmxffh6-fBtuSjx-NEZBIO3fxM1UWwXEpMSMKLLA9ZFQgY91qzxpPx5YcMRCOOBOzItYE7gPyfU4aXKAWo_CbMevNqqgpSAQlvV6yqL67D2FYHteWtikOd_jgw/s320/template+1+1.png" width="251" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrQDLe6hK5Dbs7BeR5EZ9QKreUVvezlOEmQuA3uFWXlo68EdJuFtaKgEtuNJV3fRhblJ6xJbwcOCEIB-XVlMnynQWeII7Awj8YZMArW3CqOx1e-AmAEePOIPFDCCiH21_tqMyBJni5TRU/s1600/template+1+2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrQDLe6hK5Dbs7BeR5EZ9QKreUVvezlOEmQuA3uFWXlo68EdJuFtaKgEtuNJV3fRhblJ6xJbwcOCEIB-XVlMnynQWeII7Awj8YZMArW3CqOx1e-AmAEePOIPFDCCiH21_tqMyBJni5TRU/s320/template+1+2.png" width="246" /></a></div>
<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
How often do you see each group?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Every day? Every other day? For my groups that I see every day in my room, I like to use a calendar type template. I can quickly map out a month of cohesive plans for the group. This doesn't make sense for my every other day groups because of all the wasted space. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV8U4vb7Wbul6FVlR_n4IDCuJL1fCWh_ThP4K5wuqbVCw7oB3P_yPi9OmNnH9CadFRwNVkGMTlOhlSiP0hOdWN39RAPR7-KFBjLyvJN8pkFv0B7hIPnQrrKLHtSyVc_kZ_7EQ9y477atc/s1600/template+4+1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV8U4vb7Wbul6FVlR_n4IDCuJL1fCWh_ThP4K5wuqbVCw7oB3P_yPi9OmNnH9CadFRwNVkGMTlOhlSiP0hOdWN39RAPR7-KFBjLyvJN8pkFv0B7hIPnQrrKLHtSyVc_kZ_7EQ9y477atc/s320/template+4+1.png" width="247" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRTmtJ3u1mDAHFILQZTkn_9huxWv2_kQbPw8sMQDYAOCKeBNQfzPaz-e3Nia2fYwJ41xoKIeouUV9WIxaka7c6AAPSni3QSYg5qVn4qhZcjztSbfHohzVTa1KkLIcRFFMvwxGpjBkPA4w/s1600/template+4+2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRTmtJ3u1mDAHFILQZTkn_9huxWv2_kQbPw8sMQDYAOCKeBNQfzPaz-e3Nia2fYwJ41xoKIeouUV9WIxaka7c6AAPSni3QSYg5qVn4qhZcjztSbfHohzVTa1KkLIcRFFMvwxGpjBkPA4w/s320/template+4+2.png" width="245" /></a></div>
<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Do you have groups where you aren't the lead teacher?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I push into classrooms frequently and I am not given time to co-plan so I usually walk in blindly. I (at the suggestion of my district-given mentor) write down what we worked on AFTER I see the group. I have a special planning template for that type of group. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZ94hszcBMsj3g5ZZSYNSq4KOUfM7oP3jaBTWmpggJ0X5uzZ-Yjl3tDrY843VcYtet72mMrPxR0WuefLcRIINpaP-_dcdn6O-aUe7YnP_z7qiuiM6Xq1-SjMbZQ1wvaXJje-s1yu0ekaI/s1600/template+2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZ94hszcBMsj3g5ZZSYNSq4KOUfM7oP3jaBTWmpggJ0X5uzZ-Yjl3tDrY843VcYtet72mMrPxR0WuefLcRIINpaP-_dcdn6O-aUe7YnP_z7qiuiM6Xq1-SjMbZQ1wvaXJje-s1yu0ekaI/s320/template+2.png" width="246" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Are you using a scripted program?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I use LLI with some of my students. I am not about to waste time re-writing the lesson plan. For these groups, I use a 1 page calendar template and I simply write the lesson # we are doing along with an objective (which is usually given to you in the scripted lesson).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIKKdbgk30gyKdgXTRc6GGYb3tV8TVvDX-ucs7fBBwRF9XuIB1hkNevbizafI3uPm5TtyBdW4qe6heWWN6yhaKSo17P4Y47zF27oPSUEmuhyEM9zGPaZ7bu3pQLzpBLvJUIQoYAyDpsCg/s1600/template+5.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="246" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIKKdbgk30gyKdgXTRc6GGYb3tV8TVvDX-ucs7fBBwRF9XuIB1hkNevbizafI3uPm5TtyBdW4qe6heWWN6yhaKSo17P4Y47zF27oPSUEmuhyEM9zGPaZ7bu3pQLzpBLvJUIQoYAyDpsCg/s320/template+5.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Finally, what information are you required to put in your plans? </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You will have to keep this in mind when you are choosing or creating a template. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Freebie Time</b><br />
It sounds silly but your lesson plan template is a personal thing and you really need to make it your own. I've made all of these templates customizable for you so you can create something that you love and the best part is they are free! </div>

I have been MIA again...sorry! But I have my motivation and creativity back and I'm making things like crazy! Here are some of the topics/products I'm currently working on that you can expect to see soon: </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1. A guide to making your own lesson plan template specifically for teachers who see small groups all day - resource room, consultant teachers, reading teachers. (almost completed)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2. ELA IEP goals and progress monitoring tools for elementary special ed teachers. (completed just proofreading)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3. Math IEP goals and progress monitoring tools for grades elementary special ed teachers. (half done)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
4. Teacher binder specific for resource room teachers. (just started)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
5. Year long math problem solving units, possibly grade level specific. (not started yet)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
These are all projects that I am making for myself (most of them have been on my to-do list for years) but since I'm putting in the effort to make them, I might as well share them with you! I may be making a youtube channel for product demonstrations and previews. I always find it easier to see the whole product before buying it and that seems like the best way to do that...do you or would you like to see a video of the product before purchasing it? </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Also let me know if there is anything you'd like to see in these products/posts, especially the teacher binder and math units! </div>

Time is really getting away from me! I can't believe school starts in 3 days!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is the second step to getting your special ed paperwork ready.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKEYm0TVcDPIWHU47DbT8mocNy4u76A5SHqNjQZ2vpwIW78wDh0NpYowbGUhmeOi7KryuAVsRYynUdxStV9_M5ngJgoQJ3HOkBcXRGfGda90pxa4zXjBmB3cUcHzdjlLiflIUXzz-M3y8/s1600/goal+sheets+step+2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKEYm0TVcDPIWHU47DbT8mocNy4u76A5SHqNjQZ2vpwIW78wDh0NpYowbGUhmeOi7KryuAVsRYynUdxStV9_M5ngJgoQJ3HOkBcXRGfGda90pxa4zXjBmB3cUcHzdjlLiflIUXzz-M3y8/s640/goal+sheets+step+2.png" width="483" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Just copy & paste the goals that are already typed on your at-a-glance sheets into these progress monitoring sheets! Now you are all set up to track your data!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have sheets for weekly, monthly and quarterly progress monitoring. Personally, I prefer monthly assessments because it gives kids time to make progress and it doesn't take away from my instructional time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This step only takes a few minutes and you will feel organized as soon as it's done!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Step 3 is to make/print any worksheets/assessment tools that you will need for the year for each child which takes a WHILE. I will post how I am doing that once I get it done which might not be for a few weeks :) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

I know many of you are already back to school (sorry) but I'm going to share step by step how I get my paperwork ready for school as a special educator. Each day I'll post a new step to help you get organized! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The very first thing you should do is become familiar with your ieps! Every summer, I print the ieps and make each child an "at a glance" sheet as I read them. I give classroom teachers this sheet as well (but it is not a substitute for reading the iep...make sure they know they also need to read the full iep!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRZFa3qqGTwIjkHyCkF7gpiIo6r66uSYw9-18V45OHCuc4FfEQz55P1xtVSWt1Yf9rfVPS5NSiej03hBamIp6q1d6laRYZRqshgIRHcK4GOe-Eyo4bYchWJuTPkkOuLplkVepctduxqnQ/s1600/at+a+glace+step+1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRZFa3qqGTwIjkHyCkF7gpiIo6r66uSYw9-18V45OHCuc4FfEQz55P1xtVSWt1Yf9rfVPS5NSiej03hBamIp6q1d6laRYZRqshgIRHcK4GOe-Eyo4bYchWJuTPkkOuLplkVepctduxqnQ/s400/at+a+glace+step+1.png" width="303" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is what my "at a glace" sheet looks like. It has the basic information that I need to know quickly. The top has the child's birthday, classification, grade, next evaluation date. Next, I check off what services they recieve. Then I add their goals and testing accommodations. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In the important notes section, I write things like if they have daily communication between home and school, if they have a medical issue, a family situation staff needs to be aware of...big things!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Finally, at the bottom I add a little box for the parents names & contact info.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This sheet is available in my teacher binder kit or you can make your own:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Teacher-Binders-with-Colorful-Dots-1216250" target="_blank"><img alt="Teacher Binders with Colorful Dots" src="https://ecdn.teacherspayteachers.com/thumbitem/Teacher-Binders-with-Colorful-Dots-1216250/original-1216250-1.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I highly reccommend typing this information into the sheet and saving everyones. This will help you save a lot of time for step two in getting organized! </div>

I am quickly running out of time to set up my room so I sat down today to plan some bulletin boards. I was trying to decide what font colors to use...I don't know about you, but I am a visual person. I have to see it before I know what I like. I didn't want to do the bulletin board 2-3 times so I quickly made digital versions in power point. </div>

I put a black background and purple border because that's the colors on my board. I quickly decided that white font was out. I think I am going to go with each word in 1 color instead of each letter. Now I just have to print and cut my letters and I'm all set for putting up my board tomorrow! </div>

<br />
My last post was a year ago....a year! And that makes me feel bad because I love blogging and creating things for my classroom and TPT but I have an 18 month old who is my whole world now so my time is spent with her. I honestly have no idea how you teacher blogger moms do all of this! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Speaking of not being able to do it all, I am switching positions this year! I am leaving the 12:1:1 special ed room and going back to resource room. While I loved having my own classroom and being my kids primary teacher, I felt too torn between giving my students what they deserved and coming home to my daughter. I was going to stay a few more years but a resource room teacher retired and I had my opening to get into the school that is 1 minute away from my house. I wasn't sure I was doing the right thing (I'm still not sure if we are being honest), but sometimes you just have to close your eyes and jump!<br />
<br />
I am going to be working very hard this summer to get my life in order...school and home! Hopefully things I create for myself will help you too! Stay Tuned!<br />

My baby is finally sleeping through the night and is going to bed before 10pm so I can actually get something done! I'm starting to prep for next year and I wanted to share with you one of my favorite reading activities...Literature Circles.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When I did literature circles with my resource room kids, I was amazed at the discussions they would have about the book. If you have never tried it, you should! It's easy, I promise!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I select a few books for a small group to choose from. I let them vote to pick the book. Then we section the book off into 6 sections and write down our page numbers in our packet and assign due dates for each section. Next, we assign the jobs/roles for each section of the book. There are 6 roles so by splitting the book into 6 sections, each student will complete each role.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The students will follow the schedule, reading the sections and completing their roles on their own. When we meet, the students have a discussion about the book using their packets as their guide. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The packet has built in supports so the students can be as independent as possible. There are question starters and character traits for the students to refer to as well as a page for their roles and schedule.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This isn't a free for all discussion...there is an order and a heirarchy which keeps the students on task. The discussion director (one of the roles) is in charge of the discussion. Only one person can speak at a time. The discusion director calls on people to speak. This took some modeling but once it clicked, they LOVED it!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I LOVED watching them (after we do one book together with a ton of modeling, I only watch the discussions...this is their thing!). They all had a chance to be in charge and they knew that they needed to have their jobs done so that they could contribute. They took ownership of their discussions and it makes all the difference in the world! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Since I am a special ed teacher, I did modify this a little. Instead of the students doing all the reading and writing on their own, we read the sections together and they also sat with me while doing the writing. I would walk around and help as needed.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I can't wait to do this with my class this year! Almost all of my students are 3rd graders now and they are all on the same reading level (F). This is a great way to make their lower level books seem more like 3rd grade reading.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have a few different literature circle packets available if you would like to try this. They are all the same just with different themed graphics on them. I just permanently dropped the price to $2!</div>

With the thought of being out on maternity leave, I am more determined than ever to get organized this year! I know that paper piles up so quickly the second students show up (and even before) so I'm starting with creating a spot for every paper. I stuck with the paper items that show up with students...not curriculum materials. I made a little checklist to help myself. Feel free to use it! Click on the picture to grab the PDF.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/A-place-for-everything-1399143" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmvPRssOBi26xJsNLqCnxMJREw4QJnGbyms3uwZ8BObkhfxPqXc04EE2wVbJ2aixwyNZ_FYPC5RdjiYEVIQdk7SX-3A2WOXOxleBuAzGI0i5tZQTWcZS2AHvckCk-mbcktjHRrnrRp4cI/s1600/a+place+for+everything+paper+items.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I KNOW there are some missing (like Take to the Office) so there are blank spots too.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Remember that you may not need all of these. All mail for students goes directly into their mailboxes (or just tossed on top until we have a second). I keep my weekly progress notes and homework together by the mailboxes. I also cut down on lose paper by making packets for EVERYTHING I can. All my math units are in packets so I never have lose math sheets in my room. As I actually get my room together, I'll post pictures!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you think of anything else...please let me know!</div>
<div>

Pregnancy and I are not friends. If I'm not sick, I'm sleeping! It makes it very hard to get ready for school, let alone blog about it! I was motivated today to setup my Student Data Binder so I'm going to share with you exactly how I did it! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It was pretty quick and easy once everything was printed.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyP9E97qzTn3xD8jvF4ze5xF8Y8VeFyqHwygiD4t61MRa2ZDPucOgiQ1atMMn6LJ0AgaiELtOnd-4_k7xNLEz_AyroP9pSdemrK5tQBQxphcmNpX2k0QDOKhemBp3GvaCU9QnZCO3TD9Y/s1600/photo+1+(13).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyP9E97qzTn3xD8jvF4ze5xF8Y8VeFyqHwygiD4t61MRa2ZDPucOgiQ1atMMn6LJ0AgaiELtOnd-4_k7xNLEz_AyroP9pSdemrK5tQBQxphcmNpX2k0QDOKhemBp3GvaCU9QnZCO3TD9Y/s1600/photo+1+(13).JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is my binder & cover (it has to have a cute cover right?!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTOOD1etLllCQxMcD1cF_poAGTe8vHiwwE7OyaIztBxdlfrs0Pa2OCUJqwjGkYlVUK7pqSD9dHVZmzNQLIac04ceuMOvFAM0OLEUITr3PEXfsDDje0_628yAMqjdmkiSJe4d-WgKQUSzc/s1600/photo+5+(7).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTOOD1etLllCQxMcD1cF_poAGTe8vHiwwE7OyaIztBxdlfrs0Pa2OCUJqwjGkYlVUK7pqSD9dHVZmzNQLIac04ceuMOvFAM0OLEUITr3PEXfsDDje0_628yAMqjdmkiSJe4d-WgKQUSzc/s1600/photo+5+(7).JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When you open the binder, you see the list of students with numbered tabs. I laminated this page 4 or 5 years ago and just use wet erase markers to write the names each year. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
At this point, you will want to organize your students and assign them each a number. I organize my kids alphabetically by grade level (since I have 3). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMDxypnXAmb8ewndZLhCn-s3Uu4vYHLpdKh-2qoY5FE5UvCokAsU4FiPefip0QI9KEV8PZNOnaK-plEutVQd_p4su6kKZ4lHME7ec5o_EtUwQI0hm7ArGGfJDxdVNfuTzWRwrHLq8cxns/s1600/photo+2+(11).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMDxypnXAmb8ewndZLhCn-s3Uu4vYHLpdKh-2qoY5FE5UvCokAsU4FiPefip0QI9KEV8PZNOnaK-plEutVQd_p4su6kKZ4lHME7ec5o_EtUwQI0hm7ArGGfJDxdVNfuTzWRwrHLq8cxns/s1600/photo+2+(11).JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The first page I keep under each tab is the At a Glance sheet. This one isn't filled in for confidentiality but you get the idea. It has basic information about the IEP so I don't have to flip through a 20 page document every time I have a quick question. This does take a little while to complete BUT I do it when I'm reading the IEP before school. Plus taking notes helps me remember the important information. IEPs start to all blend together after a while! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjRmA8rZhC7NZugVdmp7QYi_BcKHueUfhBOzJzI2Quf_95q7R-YyKXZlUGqdV3CSxmWM2seYq0GFd5HNRTd8sMw0irJ5igmNWDnh_seUa_Z9UkkxAOExbOqpUS74hFJxJljPfexPiGFEE/s1600/photo+3+(8).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjRmA8rZhC7NZugVdmp7QYi_BcKHueUfhBOzJzI2Quf_95q7R-YyKXZlUGqdV3CSxmWM2seYq0GFd5HNRTd8sMw0irJ5igmNWDnh_seUa_Z9UkkxAOExbOqpUS74hFJxJljPfexPiGFEE/s1600/photo+3+(8).JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next, I put my progress monitoring sheet. I assess goals monthly and I typically have 1 reading, 1 writing, and 1 math goal. I just write the goal in at the top and as I assess, I record scores and notes. I have several versions of this in my <a href="http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Teacher-Binders-with-Colorful-Dots-1216250" target="_blank">teacher binder kit</a>. I hand wrote this one but I typically type the goals in before printing. To save time, just copy and paste the goal from the At a Glance sheet! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAQRRnSPR0uikfjaAI8ZAzJE0WWe4o5rNmoRvfc_9euUAkeGBXhUuGCfuWXi1CCMuHzQRkrWzt-EYS25H3qlV1Ddhu0nEi-t67xHxJgd0g6ZlmICIsJOxRyeXh4hYb-Iq6gfvJg8wbFE4/s1600/photo+2+(12).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAQRRnSPR0uikfjaAI8ZAzJE0WWe4o5rNmoRvfc_9euUAkeGBXhUuGCfuWXi1CCMuHzQRkrWzt-EYS25H3qlV1Ddhu0nEi-t67xHxJgd0g6ZlmICIsJOxRyeXh4hYb-Iq6gfvJg8wbFE4/s1600/photo+2+(12).JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next, I put the IEP.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1OmgwvfKlpqwkbN-SyCA7VbIKB27C9yP_Oo8qqnbM8zfybZBKGBQsdJex1CQzG9W9bY7J9oTqlzGJ_NOu7aX_GKzYdVJ1SWrUVJU6R-msrrPZwzWiVr_WkGsRXvh66Ju0U6z3tK5iG94/s1600/photo+4+(8).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1OmgwvfKlpqwkbN-SyCA7VbIKB27C9yP_Oo8qqnbM8zfybZBKGBQsdJex1CQzG9W9bY7J9oTqlzGJ_NOu7aX_GKzYdVJ1SWrUVJU6R-msrrPZwzWiVr_WkGsRXvh66Ju0U6z3tK5iG94/s1600/photo+4+(8).JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then, I have my parent contact log. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNfFMpWq0JgUoZJN5MeYqg-vo6Vs3AZVJbiz3XxwwUn5SCZCw981HxeW0CQt4kkBpm8NcP2cOf-ye_6_r2vMMzi7e6dRXxXczoFn9U6FoShmRhx6gToGU8vonbstnActgZYkHOFedaaXw/s1600/photo+1+(12).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNfFMpWq0JgUoZJN5MeYqg-vo6Vs3AZVJbiz3XxwwUn5SCZCw981HxeW0CQt4kkBpm8NcP2cOf-ye_6_r2vMMzi7e6dRXxXczoFn9U6FoShmRhx6gToGU8vonbstnActgZYkHOFedaaXw/s1600/photo+1+(12).JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Finally, I have lined paper. This is good for extra notes and documenting behavior. Some kids need more notes than others. Rather than trying to figure out how many pages everyone would need in a notebook, I just use the lined notebook paper.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There is plenty of room in the binder to also keep behavior plans and anything else that comes up during the year.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
All of these forms and the binder cover (plus a ton of other forms and binder materials, including a sub binder-245 pages) are in my <a href="http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Teacher-Binders-with-Colorful-Dots-1216250" target="_blank">Colorful Dots Teaching Binders</a> for $4.</div>

I am not a fan of homework. My dislike has nothing do with whether or not it is beneficial...it basically comes down to management. Coming up with assignments for 3 grade levels each night, copying the work, getting the assignments written in an agenda, all just to have maybe 1 student do it. Then what? Do I go over it when nobody did it? Should I punish the kids who didn't do it or just reward the few who did? Who has time for all that?!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
*As a side note, my students generally come from lower socio-economic families and all of them have learning difficulties...you probably have a higher homework completion rate. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Because of all this, I stopped sending homework home. Do you know what happened?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
PARENTS COMPLAINED!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I so wanted to send home the piles of blank homework from all of those kids with a note saying: </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
"When you finish all the work you DIDN'T do so far, I'll start giving homework again."</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
But I didn't.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I came up with a system that works for me, the kids, and the parents. It's super easy!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Homework is the same 3 things each night:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1. Journal Writing</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2. Read for 20 minutes</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3. Math activity</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Each week they get a new bookmark in their folders</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCsVxl6j7Kl2coQkw6bQKW11AJa0AE-QJye9prmU3LWwGXaklI4mQHJD8WouFEXUIj5zhthWCHWKL-RmDDnH4j3J1bYh8mTNyj8-OXRz3mK5JPQjIr3TMiMqTpCz8hEPpzJkdTvoIUQgs/s1600/Homework+Bookmark.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCsVxl6j7Kl2coQkw6bQKW11AJa0AE-QJye9prmU3LWwGXaklI4mQHJD8WouFEXUIj5zhthWCHWKL-RmDDnH4j3J1bYh8mTNyj8-OXRz3mK5JPQjIr3TMiMqTpCz8hEPpzJkdTvoIUQgs/s1600/Homework+Bookmark.jpg" height="400" width="303" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had these printed, cut, and bound with that sticky stuff at the top so I can peel off each book mark (like a notepad). I asked parents to initial next to each colored star to hold everyone accountable. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Each month, I put the new journal in their take home folders.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Lets-Write-monthly-journal-writing-814863" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgi0PMFSdKS4187knbDDv_rikUqo91DNeODqJpAiQs8HPZQviFykZnpZ0jTYz8Fe7RaeQ3LrqITy5puGt5T5NRQ3KetPYEn78-BFiOPkJhOE-1XKrQBhdx0Zju_P40H506JX5smW2mAWtk/s1600/journal.jpg" height="246" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I use these journals from <a href="http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Lets-Write-monthly-journal-writing-814863" target="_blank">Miss Kindergarten</a>. I like the list of monthly words at the beginning of each journal.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
At the beginning of the year, the kids and I made math bags full of games I found for free on TPT. We made dice, I had everything laminated and it took forever. Then kids moved, new kids moved in and more than half the class lost their games in about 2 weeks. Nobody every did the math games! This year I am using these for the math activity: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Dealing-with-Math-Homework-1st-Grade-Math-Card-Games-Unit-1191198" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgasJiGNm6Ad1mgw1Z94ugjJsNyzETkkjOkqz1pfrBBN9kQ25dfHgOlDuE6QsvZowx7zBuV7GVxrrpgTG6mBnsYvUbRyrc97W2pmwlpQJPi4VvWKkb-DtNEXt1YcIlNV0nAIBb8r6p_0D4/s1600/math+cards.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
They are from <a href="http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Dealing-with-Math-Homework-1st-Grade-Math-Card-Games-Unit-1191198" target="_blank">Teachers Clubhouse</a>. I'm just waiting on the 3rd grade set and I'll have one for each grade level :) If someone loses these, it's easy enough to make up more. I am going to add these to my math stations as well so the kids know how to play the games. I also use reflex math in the classroom so that is always another option. I will probably make up a card of math game websites to add to their game rings.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I made these posters to encourage kids to do their work. We colored in a star for every star of homework the class did. I'm going to be honest...I only used this the first 2 weeks of school. Nobody was doing the work so I just stopped.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Why I love this: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Easy prep...I can print everything over the summer and just add a new journal to the folders each month. The parents who want to work with their children can but it's no pressure for the parents who just can't fight their children every night to do more work. I don't have to check anything but journals occasionally so it doesn't waste my class time!</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You can grab my posters and book marks <a href="http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Star-Homework-Bookmark-and-Posters-1313108" target="_blank">here</a> for free!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
How do you feel about homework? What does it look like in your room?</div>

What a year! I've taken a big break from blogging for a lot of personal reasons. I usually stick to just school topics but I wanted to share a few things. First, I got married! Dave and I have been together 10 years this July and we've been engaged for 6 years...yup 6 years! We are not center of attention people and we are terrible dancers...traditional weddings were not for us! We ended up doing a small wedding with about 17 people and went to dinner after in a private room in a nice restaurant. It was no stress and perfect for us! I would have pictures to post but my photographer/best friends computer was destroyed when lightning struck his house so I have to wait until he gets the computer fixed and re-edits all the pictures.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The next big news is we are having a baby!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY4Nkd3eoIPW5MW8-6fIHRPUxEIFp6N8XXM55asB7fTxTYJ92_y37WBSAeRfljhqcOqhOs24WnMT0LPguUFjyxkXxdhN9_drYNN4Wro7UQibbiD03HhfTvUifWTEOXk5JRjwuTnw3VeCA/s1600/photo+(12).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY4Nkd3eoIPW5MW8-6fIHRPUxEIFp6N8XXM55asB7fTxTYJ92_y37WBSAeRfljhqcOqhOs24WnMT0LPguUFjyxkXxdhN9_drYNN4Wro7UQibbiD03HhfTvUifWTEOXk5JRjwuTnw3VeCA/s1600/photo+(12).JPG" height="211" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(11 weeks)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It has been a rough road. I got pregnant in February and miscarried in March. We accidentally got pregnant again in April. My hormone levels were very low and the doctor didn't think the baby would make it. I started taking Progesterone pills twice a day and my levels went up. To check your levels, you have to do blood work every 48 hours...it is extremely stressful waiting to see if my numbers were doubling. Then I started getting all the symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy so I had an emergency ultrasound. They could see the gestational sac so all was good. THEN I started bleeding which is terrifying for anyone but especially someone who just had a miscarriage. I went in for another emergency ultrasound. They found Subchorionic Hematomas...a fancy word for clots of blood in your uterus. The clots can move up and separate the placenta from the wall causing miscarriage so I was told I could go to work and come home to lay down. During all of this, I couldn't even begin to think about blogging! I had my first regular appointment the day after school ended and we saw the baby flipping around and the blood clots are gone! So hopefully I'm in the clear now and I can stop worrying all the time....well that last part isn't true, I'll always worry.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt=" " height="400" src="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/91/ee/de/91eede715b818ebb4df5e6e39e236541.jpg" width="260" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This has been my motto for the last few months.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thankfully, now that I am less worried about the baby, I am starting to think about school and blogging again! I can't wait to start sharing about some of my experiences over the last year! Stay tuned :) </div>

I am so excited to show you guys my new teacher binder! I made a meal plan binder cover that I fell in love with so much that I HAD to make a teacher binder set to match. So join me on a tour of my teacher binder(s)! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My first binder is my planning binder.</div>

And grade book forms.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have another binder that REALLY has helped keep me sane this year. I call it my Important Things Binder. Basically, I throw any important things into the binder that we use throughout the year but not frequently. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjODDhj6FlAjUW4udoO6xhMpFA3xbCEhSSvTN0hbwYMFUrCGypUOnCv9aDoK_vAFSQW8Qs0xldtos2bwUR-rFuWyJ5287Avtc8VDJukYUy3HtE0aIojDsQb6ZhC4tAmqNjnpNhkaXRiinw/s1600/photo+3+(7).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjODDhj6FlAjUW4udoO6xhMpFA3xbCEhSSvTN0hbwYMFUrCGypUOnCv9aDoK_vAFSQW8Qs0xldtos2bwUR-rFuWyJ5287Avtc8VDJukYUy3HtE0aIojDsQb6ZhC4tAmqNjnpNhkaXRiinw/s1600/photo+3+(7).JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Each pocket/divider holds information on things like Star assessments, dibels, report card dates & samples...those things you have to have handy but only a few times a year.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My next favorite organization tool that I started using this year is a class list book.</div>

Inside the book are a bunch of blank class list forms...so easy to keep track of who owes what! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also have a Student Data binder which I left at school over break so I'll do a separate post on just that binder later. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I don't have all my binders at home and I didn't use everything I included in the binder kit so here is a better look into what's included:</div>

I'm linking up with <a href="http://ohboy3rdgrade.blogspot.com/2014/03/april-currently.html#comment-form" target="_blank">Farley</a> for her April Currently!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Listening...I am never home alone and if I am, the tv is on or someone is calling me. For the first time in a long time, I'm alone and it's quiet :) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Loving...the idea of adding a sand/water table to my room! I was going to write a grant for one but a co-worker has one that she doesn't use so she is *probably* going to give it to me. Obviously, I am now <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/fireflies/" target="_blank">pinning</a> a billion ideas for sensory play :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thinking...about our field trip! Many of my kids are from low income families and they don't get opportunities to go to different places in the community. There is an amazing science center about an hour away and my principal gave me the green light to take them there! I can't wait to see them running around and exploring!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Wanting...state tests to be over...I'm sure you feel me on this one! Today was the first day of our ELA test (how appropriate..April fools day). We have 2 more days of ELA and then 3 days of math at the end of the month. The tests are MUCH harder this year with the common core :( </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Needing...spring break. Seriously guys, 2 more weeks! That is so.far.away! Going from January to mid April with no real breaks is just a little too long!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hours...I have to be at school by 8:30. My kids get there around 8:40. I have to stay until 3:40 (usually I'm there until 4:30 at least). The kids leave at 3:20ish.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now I'm off to read all of your currentlys :) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

We are almost to the end of of my Guided Math Made Easy series!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Practice Path is the last of my 4 stations and it's my favorite! This is the station that gets totally blown out of control when it comes to management and set up. To me, this is where I truly make Guided Math easy!</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When students are working on Practice Path, they are working on math station games. I have seen people make monthly station kits that give you 5 or 6 activities per week and I LOVED that idea. I even bought one or two but I never ended up using them because of the amount of prep work and storage involved. I would be prepping 20-24 stations per week for my 4 groups who are all at different levels. That's 80-96 stations to print, cut, laminate, re-cut, and find homes for each month. I don't have space in my room to store 800-960 math station games. Not to mention the cost to print everything in color on card stock plus laminating pouches and storage containers. Obviously, if you have 1 grade level, this is much more manageable for you! Please don't be offended if you are someone who has made these!! I think it is a genius idea and I so wished it would work for me!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Since this is guided math made easy, I tried to keep things as simple as possible for myself, while still keeping it fun and fresh for my students. My students all love my dice activities in my sub tubs so I decided dice are a must for these stations. I wanted to mix it up and add playing cards as well. So I set to work making activities that my students can do using those 2 items.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0RDEN4QwcSAcd3SK5e4Jga99D9VFtL9qcfDKa6tW3UjRvY-Y8ZBy0s7MdiD4TyzgsE6aXVpL3e4hB6UKsmv8pgy_63nP4mcuAVMwnvivrPiyDptuOJOhMTYlP9NRLweIOMpLg2zjZYSE/s1600/photo+(8).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0RDEN4QwcSAcd3SK5e4Jga99D9VFtL9qcfDKa6tW3UjRvY-Y8ZBy0s7MdiD4TyzgsE6aXVpL3e4hB6UKsmv8pgy_63nP4mcuAVMwnvivrPiyDptuOJOhMTYlP9NRLweIOMpLg2zjZYSE/s1600/photo+(8).JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I bought both of these items on Amazon. A set of 12 playing cards was $12 and the dice were about $4. I love using these foam dice because they are colorful and they make no noise when the students use them. Each group you see can get a bucket or a drawer in a 3 drawer cart. Here is a sample of a station I put in their drawers:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.teachersnotebook.com/product/fireflies/super-easy-math-centers" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiwrKrHSD89Mz1po98WBGB9tYy17_5lIxgJJbDjw23pe_g0AZ5ADuESyq8tw9S6JS-DboyakeSLZ6Kc_07uHIYg8Fg9qLCkSZFhyaHcA5TlIkKfTXRHH1Ry8IHACUqOL7dUN7cdcHCZ5s/s1600/guided+math+made+easy+2.png" height="246" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The activities allow the students to choose whether they want to use dice or cards. Each activity is one full page like the one above. There are no small pieces to cut out...just print and laminate! Most of the page is black and white to save on ink but the titles and a few graphics are in color (I did not make black and white versions at this time but you can certainly print them in black and white and on colored paper). I've made about 12 different themes to keep everything looking fresh throughout the year.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These games are the foundation of Practice Path. Once you teach the games, they pretty much stay the same all year with very little prep on your part. As you see additional games on Pinterest and Teacher's Notebook or Teachers Pay Teachers, add them to the students baskets! But if you are having a rough week/month, there is no need to add more games! If you have a sub, the students are left wondering how to play the new activity in their baskets...they always have activities they know how to use.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The activities are open ended because the students can just keep making their own problems. This means that there is no "I'm done!" because there is no end point.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Set it up:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You will need decks of cards, dice, wet/dry erase markers, and containers. And the games!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN851sDjQZe2EnZJ3B98uTRV-h5u7oh_ld_TlqcPWvVpt-Is7z6tVJn6g_SYc1nS4ltmaSC4H34WERLoiQlEnFbQJYRlHVFwlQ536yfZXraD9Y0bKBbXmY3Q-Ek28vCReZDnva3Ol1ATY/s1600/Super+Easy+Math+Centers+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN851sDjQZe2EnZJ3B98uTRV-h5u7oh_ld_TlqcPWvVpt-Is7z6tVJn6g_SYc1nS4ltmaSC4H34WERLoiQlEnFbQJYRlHVFwlQ536yfZXraD9Y0bKBbXmY3Q-Ek28vCReZDnva3Ol1ATY/s1600/Super+Easy+Math+Centers+2.JPG" height="209" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Print and laminate the games.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdKOrEJ_xd_P_JbRwu3VtaPDunpmt4m5iaujxW5kI5ncRdggCtyniR9WKgSrbn7h1JyEasQlLiFpBmvsW-GBSWcsm18yPVqvtILDifjCAnJs3i4O6467zAaL69pxbY0kFmB2NocIDXh00/s1600/photo+4+(4).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdKOrEJ_xd_P_JbRwu3VtaPDunpmt4m5iaujxW5kI5ncRdggCtyniR9WKgSrbn7h1JyEasQlLiFpBmvsW-GBSWcsm18yPVqvtILDifjCAnJs3i4O6467zAaL69pxbY0kFmB2NocIDXh00/s1600/photo+4+(4).JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I store my decks of cards in these snack containers from the dollar store (2 for $1). Number the containers!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCypRSy8qVP3bKZJGxAAblihOIYU7HZ89xBtNC_qCGpcx9BiLWkLma6sGROu8kO8ztZZ7btdzEKuuAB1qr0Ab2AmdrRsQXRGVfEbPt9-_pf_yUSqVZAKrlKIt5PFMeM34461YHd2hmD2I/s1600/photo+3+%25283%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCypRSy8qVP3bKZJGxAAblihOIYU7HZ89xBtNC_qCGpcx9BiLWkLma6sGROu8kO8ztZZ7btdzEKuuAB1qr0Ab2AmdrRsQXRGVfEbPt9-_pf_yUSqVZAKrlKIt5PFMeM34461YHd2hmD2I/s1600/photo+3+%25283%2529.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next, I had my aides (you could use parent volunteers) number the back of each card in the deck. I made a deck for each student so I know who has kept their cards neat and who hasn't. You could make a deck or two for each group.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgBFlMNvRRhI5LJpBUVOJLPFoZ8S_9KiSZbtfz-ypFYLKIKC8Q0cA52wkABtZT8jlOw1LsaWjul6lsdPjD1-O60uLqDBIrFv6d1gX_LPpCjj9X5s68l6C7cjTaIl9NA4YXzGGHKAYxG-I/s1600/photo+5+%25284%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgBFlMNvRRhI5LJpBUVOJLPFoZ8S_9KiSZbtfz-ypFYLKIKC8Q0cA52wkABtZT8jlOw1LsaWjul6lsdPjD1-O60uLqDBIrFv6d1gX_LPpCjj9X5s68l6C7cjTaIl9NA4YXzGGHKAYxG-I/s1600/photo+5+%25284%2529.JPG" height="279" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
While numbering the cards, we changed the queens to zeros and made the aces ones.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs2ycvJzEJULMstmSKWfL6heL_bSbOeYA6_AoZU0wQe5UpaoZTcdcklwwDQ6BnhHL8Aeluom0SIrhdN3WrAGNh_veISJTxNjiDBg4XH3Ku-KRiuEPqg7quy6sZ9jzzU1_rm0JgzNLunLM/s1600/photo+2+%25284%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs2ycvJzEJULMstmSKWfL6heL_bSbOeYA6_AoZU0wQe5UpaoZTcdcklwwDQ6BnhHL8Aeluom0SIrhdN3WrAGNh_veISJTxNjiDBg4XH3Ku-KRiuEPqg7quy6sZ9jzzU1_rm0JgzNLunLM/s1600/photo+2+%25284%2529.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I just through everything in a few buckets (although, now the cards are in their drawers).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYdpN6XfQzPDAT-JBRdmoupXj9dRFs11Qvefa5l7bS0JC_r13zXBq8n8vyn70FxqLuvCzGFVkUFAxMCOUfdZ7kJr3wIDeXmwOnfJhKIETWsyzD47zh08sTGNsBVIRUghMkVTXvkoU5MNE/s1600/photo+1+%25285%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYdpN6XfQzPDAT-JBRdmoupXj9dRFs11Qvefa5l7bS0JC_r13zXBq8n8vyn70FxqLuvCzGFVkUFAxMCOUfdZ7kJr3wIDeXmwOnfJhKIETWsyzD47zh08sTGNsBVIRUghMkVTXvkoU5MNE/s1600/photo+1+%25285%2529.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And the games go in the drawers. Dice and card buckets are on top. I use Martha Stewart whiteboard labels for the drawers so I can change their groups easily. I wiped off some of the names before taking the picture.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Organize it:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I place my stations in 1 gallon Ziploc bags. I have a bag per theme/month. The bags get tossed in my monthly boxes. When a new month rolls around, I simple gather all the old sheets, put them in a bag and back into the monthly box. The new games get pulled out and tossed in drawers. It seriously can't be easier!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For non-monthly games, I store those in bags or envelopes in my cabinet according to concept.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Using it:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The students can choose any activity from their drawer/basket. It's that simple! As with the Computer Cabin station, Practice Path has a no-warning system. The students are explicitly taught that they are to work together to play the games. If they are fighting, yelling, and not working on math, they are given a worksheet from "The Binder" and they must sit at their seat and complete it. If they do not clean up their stations properly, the next time they also get a worksheet from the binder.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg85EhmAgLgbkxShgwNSrESOE8sjZpa0hIbMcyRJL_bBes7NY3GOmBD2QmVLp6MdWmOEMV4oxe8bv1HM9mQQlxNwOkhqe7zim7rAWGP-Cpi9IVBAW741ceEXrQvkt3Ot27YH_21utqT1Qg/s1600/Guided+math+made+easy+3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg85EhmAgLgbkxShgwNSrESOE8sjZpa0hIbMcyRJL_bBes7NY3GOmBD2QmVLp6MdWmOEMV4oxe8bv1HM9mQQlxNwOkhqe7zim7rAWGP-Cpi9IVBAW741ceEXrQvkt3Ot27YH_21utqT1Qg/s1600/Guided+math+made+easy+3.png" height="320" width="255" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I get the worksheets from themathworksheetsite.com. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love the simplicity of my guided math set up! I was able to get the basics of each station up and running quickly. After a few weeks, everything was running smoothly and I felt like I had the time and energy to make and add in some more games to the math drawers. On the other hand, March was a crazy month and I didn't have time to include any additional activities. My class didn't even notice because they still had a bunch of activities in their drawers that they know how to use. I didn't feel bad because they were still practicing the skills they need to practice the most!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Welcome back to my Guided Math Made Easy series! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Today's post is all about my Computer Cabin station!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgW7zPsPhhfWChvwOq7e-4CsvTLaJYdoabGdngQ916lie2smip78knddDnfyMpKwMygOCr8AkOgKUU94avbngw95Yhr8zTrDzNyUflcrcHK7_f9JaTm7UlDku77e4Hch-iIanl3AkDcXfs/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgW7zPsPhhfWChvwOq7e-4CsvTLaJYdoabGdngQ916lie2smip78knddDnfyMpKwMygOCr8AkOgKUU94avbngw95Yhr8zTrDzNyUflcrcHK7_f9JaTm7UlDku77e4Hch-iIanl3AkDcXfs/s1600/photo+2.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This station can take as much or as little time and thought as you'd like. If you are just starting out, I would do the bare minimum and come back to it after you are comfortable with the other stations. Technology can be overwhelming because there is so much you can do with it! You can't worry about everything at once so don't! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b><u>Set Up: </u></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You will need computers or iPads (or some other technology) for this station. Once you have that, I suggest finding a program that has students practicing their facts that they can do every day. My district uses <a href="http://www.reflexmath.com/home" target="_blank">Reflex Math</a> but this costs money. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="img" height="264" src="http://www.reflexmath.com/assets/img/tours/game/games.jpg" width="400" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
With <a href="http://www.reflexmath.com/home" target="_blank">Reflex Math</a>, students can choose from a variety of games. There is a little green light that comes on after they have been playing for an optimal amount of time. Reflex keeps track of everything for you! I really like this program! <a href="http://xtramath.org/" target="_blank">Xtra math</a> is free and people seem to like it (I've never used it). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Set up your class and teach them how to use it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The next thing you will want to do is find apps and/or a list of websites that your students can visit to play math games. Show your students how to get to the websites.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you are using an iPad, you can add website links to your homepage: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img height="200" src="http://www.bigredright.com/add-to-home-screen.jpg" width="162" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are the apps in my math folder: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHTF_1ly3kvoH2vZILIcJiw8myPYijPImw3AuOZsWQ7l1ODOWeuwQjICOLaZwZzogYUoaLp60OUzOuTYEN22tlNxmjy3-YMNADo6ml37YZaQJ1YQrPGFxx8LuydEpRODdqifBWeQZs6rg/s1600/photo+1+(7).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHTF_1ly3kvoH2vZILIcJiw8myPYijPImw3AuOZsWQ7l1ODOWeuwQjICOLaZwZzogYUoaLp60OUzOuTYEN22tlNxmjy3-YMNADo6ml37YZaQJ1YQrPGFxx8LuydEpRODdqifBWeQZs6rg/s1600/photo+1+(7).JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOzPMh8i1n2MdBHszNwB5Gj59uSDkin_0CLJQLd6LR8nDnYI5rQ70Wq2fRoncfpiXnOClBDh0WdlUlADWskNCDEIH3WQLDVPur46Oy5BPFvSeajF6gp_ynsu2IoTQ4QWUd6uUrkUAWdzQ/s1600/photo+2+%25286%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOzPMh8i1n2MdBHszNwB5Gj59uSDkin_0CLJQLd6LR8nDnYI5rQ70Wq2fRoncfpiXnOClBDh0WdlUlADWskNCDEIH3WQLDVPur46Oy5BPFvSeajF6gp_ynsu2IoTQ4QWUd6uUrkUAWdzQ/s1600/photo+2+%25286%2529.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can also lock students into apps using <b>guided access</b>. You will need to turn it on in settings (under accessibility). It needs a pass code (don't forget it!). Then open the app you want students to use that day and triple click the home button. A little thing will come up for you to turn guided access on. This locks students into that app. When they hit the home button, they will be prompted to put in the pass code to get out of the app...without the code, they are stuck :) *Please know your students before using this! I have some behavior students who would (and have) throw the iPad because they are mad.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b><u>Using it:</u></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This station is pretty self explanatory. Students use computers or iPads to play games online. How do I keep my students playing math games?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If a student is not playing a math game, they are not allowed to use the iPads. Instead, they sit and do flash cards. I have ELA and Math flashcards in here because I use the iPads for both station times. Call me mean, but I do not give warnings with this. We discuss it a lot before we start math stations and I tell them up front, there are no warnings here! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The first time a student was caught, he did flashcards. They learned fast. The whole class looked mortified and nobody ever made that mistake again.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b><u>Organize it: </u></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is the tricky part for me. I have 3 grade levels with kids who need to work on a ton of different skills so how should I organize my math apps?! You can organize them by topic and assign students a folder to work from. Some apps cover many topics though...Currently, I have all math apps in a math app folder. It's really not the best but with apps covering k-3rd grade material, I'm not really sure how to organize it a different way. If you have ideas, please share! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Also, share your favorite math apps in the comments!</div>

Welcome to the next post in my Guided Math Made Easy series!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This post is all about my Adventure at your Seat station.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is where my students practice what they learned in our small group lesson. Most groups meet with me then go straight to this station. My highest group will do this before coming to see me. This station is essentially seat work. It is the independent practice portion of the lesson.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Setting it up:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Remember when you were setting up your unit packets? You will want to find worksheets that align with each lesson. My math curriculum had extra practice sheets for each lesson. Hopefully, yours does as well. I just copy those, staple the pages together and keep them in a folder for each kid. I hand out their packet for that lesson at the end of the lesson. This way, if you missed a group because of a fire drill or something, their seat work is not thrown off from your lesson. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqn_C7IxIWjdfXbq1bgEIJC9500zKLAMcJXXVvXmogDeh7JW_dMCuQ46tkg4C3zzwevN1TDh80bP9JStpb6kzigqk5JBqIA9NPa5QMkkaIEaYSNvKtfH-0hkxf3tHNPup5xX0fKrGIrRc/s1600/photo+1+(6).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqn_C7IxIWjdfXbq1bgEIJC9500zKLAMcJXXVvXmogDeh7JW_dMCuQ46tkg4C3zzwevN1TDh80bP9JStpb6kzigqk5JBqIA9NPa5QMkkaIEaYSNvKtfH-0hkxf3tHNPup5xX0fKrGIrRc/s1600/photo+1+(6).JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiY0GzJegnV-aY0TBic-MFSb31Jclo2kv_ZEOknmyPMYDZKqby5r_wYXsReU3cLhOgE_1-INdOCvgjGjOG7r0RE2-7N-A7CdMs8nVZylFgSQq-zlcLbqJ_BIoQaRDlS4zHglH96VGDncIY/s1600/photo+2+%25285%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiY0GzJegnV-aY0TBic-MFSb31Jclo2kv_ZEOknmyPMYDZKqby5r_wYXsReU3cLhOgE_1-INdOCvgjGjOG7r0RE2-7N-A7CdMs8nVZylFgSQq-zlcLbqJ_BIoQaRDlS4zHglH96VGDncIY/s1600/photo+2+%25285%2529.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Using it:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For the most part, you just hand the students their seat work when they leave the lesson group. There will be days when you do not do a lesson from the book...what do the students do then? That's really up to you! I have given them something to sort or organize for math, given them math books to read, let them explore manipulatives related to the topic, given them those solve the math facts then color the picture sheets. You can make a small packet of review work that they can do when they are finished early with their seat work or when you do not have seat work for them. Having a word problem book is good extra seat work as well.<br />
<br />
Again, post any questions, comments, and suggestions in the comment section!</div>

Hi friends! I have been working hard on making my life at school easier so I can have a life at home too. One thing I needed to do was to create a strong foundation of basic systems that could carry me through those rough weeks without a lot of thought and prep. I'm going to start by sharing how I did this with guided math with my Guided Math Made Easy series! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnrrjQ5eUGRt4FNyMAGHbEHQIafL0to3Bj-wtrztP6BXwVc8YSMZsdGWjD3c4jgwgDNn8aeS-vBr2ogucNRiM2uMEr0cwwJnZ94o01I3-Kn1R1pGWpiiPnOpde25M43r4g7Gs1eKC-x6w/s1600/Guided+Math+Made+Easy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnrrjQ5eUGRt4FNyMAGHbEHQIafL0to3Bj-wtrztP6BXwVc8YSMZsdGWjD3c4jgwgDNn8aeS-vBr2ogucNRiM2uMEr0cwwJnZ94o01I3-Kn1R1pGWpiiPnOpde25M43r4g7Gs1eKC-x6w/s1600/Guided+Math+Made+Easy.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Meet with the Troop Leader (Teacher) is the FIRST station you should set up! Do it in the summer if possible. Meet with the Teacher is where I do ALL of my direct instruction because I have 3 different grade levels. I have my students between 10-25 minutes a day, depending on the lesson and their ability to sit and focus. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Setting it Up: </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you really want to make your life easier, you need to learn to love packets! (Keep reading even if you hate packets...I promise it's not as bad as you think!) I took the New York math outline of what to teach when and sorted my math materials into that order. I'm combining a few left over curriculums from various grade levels to meet all the new Common Core Standards. I was not given a math curriculum so I'm sort of left to make it up as I go...if you were given a curriculum, I'd use it (at least as a guide). Remember, this is <b>Guided Math Made Easy</b>, not guided-math-so-complicated-you-immediately-give-up. I'm keeping everything organized by chapter in my filing cabinet. I have a separate folder for my lesson book & seat work.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLxmkMmf17VkRfbE8vizRxlMvCzZU4Vb1BD1wi7TzNQxE6eWe9tF0-VJ6PWNOSdQ0x1LU9BoT5i16OemosL2YkvtQ7JSy5V2FcdPK9xnenJC7TbFpPIrGO0DUHUlWTL1kFlAQtkl57agY/s1600/photo+5+%25283%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLxmkMmf17VkRfbE8vizRxlMvCzZU4Vb1BD1wi7TzNQxE6eWe9tF0-VJ6PWNOSdQ0x1LU9BoT5i16OemosL2YkvtQ7JSy5V2FcdPK9xnenJC7TbFpPIrGO0DUHUlWTL1kFlAQtkl57agY/s1600/photo+5+%25283%2529.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After I sorted my materials, I made packets for each unit. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgSAyGdFIZYZR68M8eHId67F5M9irzXnYccp7aFNKxKBkiqbWACCgIPn8CgugAFVsKgWQLctBS7-shLgYiv0qip9QX_X1_Tur0XQfg5Bbb5UnEQ9B8d8C9IXyGUxiJ_0eowvy7e65r3CA/s1600/Lesson+Book+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgSAyGdFIZYZR68M8eHId67F5M9irzXnYccp7aFNKxKBkiqbWACCgIPn8CgugAFVsKgWQLctBS7-shLgYiv0qip9QX_X1_Tur0XQfg5Bbb5UnEQ9B8d8C9IXyGUxiJ_0eowvy7e65r3CA/s1600/Lesson+Book+1.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnppRIXgWq_sRhztnEp3onsrK_6Z5wzmfKPHn9QQop2K7z0iSS8wVtTdLHlxJHf4-YTv57es3qx1uwY58xQF1XI5BMGREyDsfHw-E5ipA9IJQn5wpB_Mq6cxepR1rGg9DLItX4PVzrWqs/s1600/Lesson+Book+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnppRIXgWq_sRhztnEp3onsrK_6Z5wzmfKPHn9QQop2K7z0iSS8wVtTdLHlxJHf4-YTv57es3qx1uwY58xQF1XI5BMGREyDsfHw-E5ipA9IJQn5wpB_Mq6cxepR1rGg9DLItX4PVzrWqs/s1600/Lesson+Book+2.JPG" height="320" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
Packets mean no loose papers and everything is in order! I actually combine about 3 units into one spiral bound packet so I'm not making copies so frequently. The best part about having the packet system is that once you make your initial packets, all you have to do is copy them (or send them out if your district does that) and you are done for the year! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You will also want to have math manipulatives at your finger tips! I keep mine in these 3 drawer carts. Each drawer holds a ton of manipulatives. The kids can easily access anything they need. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfBjj_6tTUWBOgF6t6xEZgCMUUl_rp25MoULIwSKSTkfoS90ABoV-FMoUXNDM4vXgIiJ02iQfgRAyAveYLy9j78lEiaRyVuwpeJpJkp8L7788IgARzIYWMgB_OQmdKs7Q8sojbaPB0vbQ/s1600/photo+(5).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfBjj_6tTUWBOgF6t6xEZgCMUUl_rp25MoULIwSKSTkfoS90ABoV-FMoUXNDM4vXgIiJ02iQfgRAyAveYLy9j78lEiaRyVuwpeJpJkp8L7788IgARzIYWMgB_OQmdKs7Q8sojbaPB0vbQ/s1600/photo+(5).JPG" height="320" width="239" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Organize it: </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I keep my units in a filing cabinet. You could also store everything in binders. I keep my daily materials in book bins: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtxrhy1_EugIOtzjAjMe3Cy-NC3-81tDHId1vgRB6V7Y5Hky49O8nTy2bMC3aosBqMEtPDOruYn3zOboS1nKYJ2TdjKZ4gTBM5mc378UKuHciNKtHSUEVUFew-BhqkrI_yMkjD2U41jwE/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtxrhy1_EugIOtzjAjMe3Cy-NC3-81tDHId1vgRB6V7Y5Hky49O8nTy2bMC3aosBqMEtPDOruYn3zOboS1nKYJ2TdjKZ4gTBM5mc378UKuHciNKtHSUEVUFew-BhqkrI_yMkjD2U41jwE/s1600/photo+1.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In each groups bin, I have the teacher's manual, the students math packets (which I call Lesson Books) and examples of any hands on things we might be doing during a unit. On an un-related note, I really want to paint those...those colors really don't match my room! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Using it: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope you kept reading to this part because this is important! Just because a worksheet is in your packet, doesn't mean you have to use it! I skip a lot of lessons that are in the packets because we did a hands-on activity instead. Sometimes we skip parts of a lesson and other times we do the whole thing. It just depends on your kids and the lesson. The packets are there as a guide. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There are soooo many little details that go into teaching. If there is anything else you want to know about this station, please let me know in the comments! Also please feel free to share your tips for your teacher station! </div>

I am so excited to have my Super Easy Math Centers done! I love teaching math in small groups but I hate prepping tons of games for the centers. Anyone else with me? I keep buying these cute math centers from some of the amazing bloggers out there and I so wish that I could use them but the prep work involved is just not realistic for me...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1. Print</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2. cut out the pieces</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3. laminate everything</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
4. cut out the pieces again</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
5. find some storage pocket to keep all the small pieces in</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
6. print out recording forms</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
7. pray that nobody loses a piece while playing the game</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
8. then pack it all up and store it...somewhere! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I typically get one or two of those steps done and the month is over. I needed something easier to prep...something I could realistically keep up with for multiple grade levels.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Enter my Super Easy Math Centers!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBENOEltszpjWo6yOs6H9lZDNUBFpWVbDIUrlxxBFZcMWLVJfnHPhyhIWuOXGjhAxSmPLuzsuPSKzpZl3yLCXG4ageoea5hj_PY57TBCvQn_tCHDDy8d_Km-XxukwQU8qA1nfQ7R37Yx8/s1600/Super+Easy+Math+Centers.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBENOEltszpjWo6yOs6H9lZDNUBFpWVbDIUrlxxBFZcMWLVJfnHPhyhIWuOXGjhAxSmPLuzsuPSKzpZl3yLCXG4ageoea5hj_PY57TBCvQn_tCHDDy8d_Km-XxukwQU8qA1nfQ7R37Yx8/s1600/Super+Easy+Math+Centers.png" height="283" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
All you do is print and laminate! {This is part of the Spring/Easter set}</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Each activity is on one page so there is no cutting (yay!). My kids use dice or cards to make numbers for their problems so they will get different numbers each time. That means they will RARELY be repeating the same problems with minimal work from me :) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The games are all the same but they are in 12 different themes that will get you through the year and then some! This way, you wont waste time introducing new activities all the time and when you are out, you know the class has a bunch of activities they know how to do. I tried not to over load the page with graphics to keep it easier to print for you.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is a sampling from the different themes I made: </div>

My students HATE answering questions! It is always the same 2 or 3 students raising their hands. Maybe it's because they got used to not being called on when they were in regular ed but now I need everyone to respond! Enter Brain Beads! They work like magic. As soon as I introduced them, the kids hands started to shoot up. Basically, if you give me a relevant (not necessarily correct) answer, you get brain beads to wear for the day. I store them in this old Target trail mix jar: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDX1U_QU7vrZ_F8HAyJORCtpXRUT3kou5UW8GtI4pYCHB_8vTDE28X46tKjOz4j1Z12oLzY48MJIYx_rNNx1x-HBYrWdjEyi_wZBakimHDvk_lN09zYATCx77FQHanwaZ2SD3Mln4nRI0/s1600/Brain+Beads.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDX1U_QU7vrZ_F8HAyJORCtpXRUT3kou5UW8GtI4pYCHB_8vTDE28X46tKjOz4j1Z12oLzY48MJIYx_rNNx1x-HBYrWdjEyi_wZBakimHDvk_lN09zYATCx77FQHanwaZ2SD3Mln4nRI0/s1600/Brain+Beads.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I chose a jar with a lid because I can easily throw this in a cabinet in June and I don't have to worry about necklaces falling everywhere! I grabbed the beads at the dollar store - $1 for 8 necklaces. Cheap, easy, effective!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

What do you use to get your students engaged?</div>

Hi Friends! I was using my day off to get caught up & ahead in my lesson plans so I thought I'd show you how I'm lesson planning. I am always looking for the best way to plan. I really like the way I've been planning for math so here it is! Disclaimer: This is not ground breaking! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdccXiQ5D2GwOUS8PZgqIzTA2mLkkORcpMqOAeIdR9hgbeCYKcvhjqhH07ZfDfLfbZ6cQj1RsohFaHw-Buc_6vCS1xSCfkeVuXI00fotdEt40Dk1Bot8mGRvxMVeR4Ps1Kk33WbOzsiWY/s1600/Lesson+Plan+Template.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdccXiQ5D2GwOUS8PZgqIzTA2mLkkORcpMqOAeIdR9hgbeCYKcvhjqhH07ZfDfLfbZ6cQj1RsohFaHw-Buc_6vCS1xSCfkeVuXI00fotdEt40Dk1Bot8mGRvxMVeR4Ps1Kk33WbOzsiWY/s1600/Lesson+Plan+Template.png" height="307" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is my lesson template. It's a calendar (I JUST realized that says 2013 instead of 2014..oops!) Before I wrote any plans, I went through and set up my calendar with dates & important breaks/events. I really like the calendar format because that is how my mind works. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I teach 3 grade levels and have 5 different math groups (K curriculum, 1st, 2nd, & 3rd curriculums, and 1 who is too much of a mix between 2nd and 3rd to join either group) so I made a section for each math group in my binder. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOE3E3ITace3AGWcoqWBVxHh0iZzn3LDGH7AxIHhbCFAYFSb0BXWAh7BRuJkIcvCSE8uRFYUjeGGGBM2CC166aJ_h389xsUPmOqPqaKam7BFHt55xux4-XCWG2Sr0ARwW1J50sWe3r4Cw/s1600/lesson+divider.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOE3E3ITace3AGWcoqWBVxHh0iZzn3LDGH7AxIHhbCFAYFSb0BXWAh7BRuJkIcvCSE8uRFYUjeGGGBM2CC166aJ_h389xsUPmOqPqaKam7BFHt55xux4-XCWG2Sr0ARwW1J50sWe3r4Cw/s1600/lesson+divider.png" height="246" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is my divider for group 3 who is working on the regular 3rd grade curriculum. I have 10 calendar pages that follow each groups divider page (September - June)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSn0bw4m8lhYvRvLdmXWt87wMFFvwF4EO8iOUoxL7rY9WO0ss1PnohDixyOqmt7EE85rjHGhnVIXoF0qCBvbOYdaQiTarvx6XUu1T_k8pcc-14H8Ppvc8fnSl5Eb9ZOhmIHgdfUB2JSLo/s1600/lesson+plan+upclose.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSn0bw4m8lhYvRvLdmXWt87wMFFvwF4EO8iOUoxL7rY9WO0ss1PnohDixyOqmt7EE85rjHGhnVIXoF0qCBvbOYdaQiTarvx6XUu1T_k8pcc-14H8Ppvc8fnSl5Eb9ZOhmIHgdfUB2JSLo/s1600/lesson+plan+upclose.png" height="315" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is a closer look at my April plans for the group. The first week we have state tests. I don't teach ANYTHING on state test days. It's too much. Usually after testing, I have them play outside or watch movies. Each week, I have a weekly objective(s) listed so I don't have to write it 5 times. Then I briefly write what we are doing. For example, April 10th we are Reading tables and bar graphs. Materials for the lesson are on pages 305-308 in their lesson book (which is my version of their text book). This is far less than I have ever written before and it goes so-much-faster! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEH2yTIEIV02qCMt6O6B9HnxFrbir83rDHFoOOhvC6iVT5nr3tFPWeIYcbPUB7UGYAB7NUn02wpSb7-dQtuiSakxVuYe6EcwxcpvJgjcQ6pvtN4pDDUzIl4RZB-r738AO1aI61PB62-qw/s1600/photo+2+(2).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEH2yTIEIV02qCMt6O6B9HnxFrbir83rDHFoOOhvC6iVT5nr3tFPWeIYcbPUB7UGYAB7NUn02wpSb7-dQtuiSakxVuYe6EcwxcpvJgjcQ6pvtN4pDDUzIl4RZB-r738AO1aI61PB62-qw/s1600/photo+2+(2).JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I pulled the objections & daily lesson descriptions straight from the math book I'm using. With all of these math groups doing different things it can get <strike>completely</strike> a little overwhelming so I say if you are in a position like mine or are a new teacher - stick with the text book! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I use the same format for my writing plans as well. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSEwkP2xiHOW8UC_nm2A7WAIHEJOQ7akW0oG3_jjKgutekHyVStN3lGiYuRgKL8rs8Ed3juK9mDCmugpzQwk6jDDcgRh0e3d9wTHkaTlzSUQREoyfztvupE8XnwDEcxuB4qdPZS4dnjE8/s1600/writing+plans.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSEwkP2xiHOW8UC_nm2A7WAIHEJOQ7akW0oG3_jjKgutekHyVStN3lGiYuRgKL8rs8Ed3juK9mDCmugpzQwk6jDDcgRh0e3d9wTHkaTlzSUQREoyfztvupE8XnwDEcxuB4qdPZS4dnjE8/s1600/writing+plans.png" height="489" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
How do you plan? Do you use textbooks for most of your math planning?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

Hi friends...I'm declaring 2014 the year of Balance for me. The word "Balance" sort of covers everything I want to accomplish in the new year and it's something I was obviously lacking this year (I think I've posted like twice all school year!).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="Life & Balance//" height="400" src="http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/21/ea/f2/21eaf2a831bad88b7e02c4b5ae4d4732.jpg" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In 2013, I spent WAY too much time at school, WAY too much time online and not enough time with family and friends or exercising or just relaxing! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It's so easy for us as teachers to forget ourselves...we are in charge of other peoples children! Those children are important and we are playing a HUGE role in their lives. That's a lot of pressure to be an awesome teacher! My students have so many needs (plus curriculum demands) that I could literally move into my classroom and never leave and I still wouldn't be able to get everything done. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJpKbPbrB-0g4GUh27GGpq9p1rB0sULxre-EcECurVrfv27060CeKi1E1Upn2MICBb6udzKzRn1qo1j1qDQhGOWDzKilffaMAr16uwgaY7CSINJVycteB_uQWBgNXLnr6mgslB9Hbd5u8/s1600/2014.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJpKbPbrB-0g4GUh27GGpq9p1rB0sULxre-EcECurVrfv27060CeKi1E1Upn2MICBb6udzKzRn1qo1j1qDQhGOWDzKilffaMAr16uwgaY7CSINJVycteB_uQWBgNXLnr6mgslB9Hbd5u8/s400/2014.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Just making this list, you can see how much more I need to add to the "in life" column to balance out. I think the biggest thing is to work smarter. I'm in the process of making a few products that will make my school life so.much.easier. I can't wait to see how it works! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope you all have a fun, safe night tonight! Happy New Year!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15250045746828603224noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-335612851660260466.post-10221698248472508962013-10-19T10:55:00.002-04:002013-10-19T10:55:48.153-04:00Just add dice Sub Tub!<div style="text-align: center;">
Would you like a sub tub that only needs to be printed once and you can use every time you are out for years to come?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I blogged about my sub tub in the summer. I was waiting to get to know my kids before making copies for each reading/math group. Well, I got to know my class and more than half of them are non-readers so I threw my plans out the window and decided to start again. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I was facing multiple meetings in the same week and I didn't want to print a ton of stuff for my sub tub because paper is gold in my school. I had the idea to fill the sub tub with review games that can be done multiple times. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Why games? Games are engaging which is helpful for the sub. I don't have to make copies every year because the games are laminated. I know my kids are working on concepts that they need to review. The best part is after you set it up, all you have to do is add dice! (and writing paper)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I decided make a sub tub for fall, winter, and spring. Many of the activities are the same just with different graphics to mix it up. Some of the things change like writing prompts, writing paper, and time fillers.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is how I put mine together:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjgmMU7gRCIggEHZ5nB8xPtQwTVZ989PHld_lizmw2586i-c_npnrS0_wUbLMa2jLajIuTCSnDRoDmu6w3mbDRiXRKKU782rNttwaUQvCRIy58Rn_dl1p7hBms0gzBqLgcDYUj8rjKOYE/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjgmMU7gRCIggEHZ5nB8xPtQwTVZ989PHld_lizmw2586i-c_npnrS0_wUbLMa2jLajIuTCSnDRoDmu6w3mbDRiXRKKU782rNttwaUQvCRIy58Rn_dl1p7hBms0gzBqLgcDYUj8rjKOYE/s320/photo+2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I added a Fall sub tub label.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8DghtXRSOKL6eeDfk_aMD-2ed45_mnUdKqYuYnD-LmZ1HGToG7BQFTMNFOhtH6EQ79Ow4Z8JQGIGizFZkPYByjZqZTfQYBv05Yn271k9KjQNDGR3TpCI_EQILUzs4HiTzKICq5xsMfFk/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8DghtXRSOKL6eeDfk_aMD-2ed45_mnUdKqYuYnD-LmZ1HGToG7BQFTMNFOhtH6EQ79Ow4Z8JQGIGizFZkPYByjZqZTfQYBv05Yn271k9KjQNDGR3TpCI_EQILUzs4HiTzKICq5xsMfFk/s320/photo+1.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A variety of math games starting with addition facts all the way up to 3 digit multiplication are included. I printed the games I wanted for my kids and laminated them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrJAmXNJcfmL_ugWg3fKQqOh-8JaiYayWiOo3i0bKopbCC5FKL0HXbqFF_lBDCtLX-QpUkCay_wGCooWpsi1fUnEPLUcBBMU1plC5SshbJJWvjJ-oxSnGtr_922JREf6XwXxVniIBJVIE/s1600/photo+5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrJAmXNJcfmL_ugWg3fKQqOh-8JaiYayWiOo3i0bKopbCC5FKL0HXbqFF_lBDCtLX-QpUkCay_wGCooWpsi1fUnEPLUcBBMU1plC5SshbJJWvjJ-oxSnGtr_922JREf6XwXxVniIBJVIE/s320/photo+5.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If I needed to add info for the sub, I just wrote it on a post it. This one says no regrouping because this group isn't ready for that yet.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy1vZb9n8fnNQl1ofHn4recyOjm4g-3oDaR4far0DMG3UBaZB_49HADj_xXPepy3Ix3DJm_KZ9xf8XH99Uo_P8VP6C0qM-RVHLdOwJtBWN53iPrWc3DG-ABTckOBGaN6VA0U37L4DKAEo/s1600/photo+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy1vZb9n8fnNQl1ofHn4recyOjm4g-3oDaR4far0DMG3UBaZB_49HADj_xXPepy3Ix3DJm_KZ9xf8XH99Uo_P8VP6C0qM-RVHLdOwJtBWN53iPrWc3DG-ABTckOBGaN6VA0U37L4DKAEo/s320/photo+4.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I made a labeled folder for each group I have. Then I just tossed in the games I wanted for each group. They have 2 or 3 each so they can choose what they want to do with the sub.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

I made roll-and-respond reading sheets that can be used with any book. For writing, I have roll-and-write a story promts, themed paper, and instructions. Are you noticing a theme? All you need to add is dice! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Finally, I have a few time filler cards that list activities a sub can do with items found around the room so there is no prep for you! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuRdXZw_DN6jpvicWffzb_0e-daoYw5YRaqPUSn_AG2m_FmYlR6T4C47h2sZ9EFbV8Sy1xOIcDsHmVKXBD1r4Xs4JL8zVdmKEXA342OAA5GQMyrXJ0qq1JjhRCzzYQUosJEpCb_SXkLDE/s1600/time+fillers.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuRdXZw_DN6jpvicWffzb_0e-daoYw5YRaqPUSn_AG2m_FmYlR6T4C47h2sZ9EFbV8Sy1xOIcDsHmVKXBD1r4Xs4JL8zVdmKEXA342OAA5GQMyrXJ0qq1JjhRCzzYQUosJEpCb_SXkLDE/s320/time+fillers.png" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Science and Social Studies have such a wide range of topics so here is what I do (not included in my sub tub kit but the worksheets are free and can be found on my <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/fireflies/sub-plans/" target="_blank">pinterest board</a>)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXImQ2_4YzC3fC-S8weUjl9jg5tof8xfo2GhSMFXhoV4kEFwAxfZZcUjDzVd2U5dPpq_4kqIesZDogT7MlMDcUeshm3DZkCiqNKFz5_L3jkmB1g7vtTw_JemJuUGaXzFk7zWV54KICeQ0/s1600/photo+2+%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXImQ2_4YzC3fC-S8weUjl9jg5tof8xfo2GhSMFXhoV4kEFwAxfZZcUjDzVd2U5dPpq_4kqIesZDogT7MlMDcUeshm3DZkCiqNKFz5_L3jkmB1g7vtTw_JemJuUGaXzFk7zWV54KICeQ0/s320/photo+2+%25281%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Social Studies: I threw 3 sets of scholastic news into a folder. Each set is clipped together. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img height="320" src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/81%2BJcIQFonL._SL1500_.jpg" width="226" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For science, I bought the magic school bus dvd set. You could throw in some science books you have that you don't typically use or a science weekly reader. I give my subs the option to do science or social studies...whatever they are most comfortable with! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggPbYN9VUlRkNOGG7G1fGB3XE1L-l8-Jco0ug2qeI-hFUamM9qfEytrEwhc744DlnITu_WKo5FiUM3TQ0DlMYIOEWHDFrIMLMWvwkFJ7_EQTy6QqCPJJzXaL1Tof74oIKQWDNu1TPiGNs/s1600/photo+4+%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggPbYN9VUlRkNOGG7G1fGB3XE1L-l8-Jco0ug2qeI-hFUamM9qfEytrEwhc744DlnITu_WKo5FiUM3TQ0DlMYIOEWHDFrIMLMWvwkFJ7_EQTy6QqCPJJzXaL1Tof74oIKQWDNu1TPiGNs/s320/photo+4+%25281%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I give the sub 3 graphic organzer/response options so he/she can choose how she wants the class to respond depending on the time. I have this fact book, a bubble map, and a KWL chart. I did a sample one for the sub to use as a guide with the students. These can all be found for free on my <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/fireflies/sub-plans/" target="_blank">sub plans pinterest board</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It did take me a little over an hour to set it up between choosing items, printing, laminating, and customizing the time filler cards but I never have to redo it. When I leave on the last day in June, my fall sub tub is all ready to go for September :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
